Gourlis as a young pup

Gourlis, now
Gourlis is a handsome 'Singapore Special' (Mongrel) just like Fei. He reminds me so much of Fei. Here is Gourlis' story. Gourlis, whose previous name was Lucky, was found in Yishun, Singapore, 14 October 2005. The person who found him, fostered him and posted in two popular dogs - related websites asking if anyone wanted to adopt a mongrel puppy... In Singapore, not many people will adopt mongrel as they are not HDB (public housing) approved, and most people live in HDB flats. I was looking for a dog, I was about to buy one, as I didn't know there are places that I can adopt a puppy. My friends knew that I was looking for a puppy, so she showed me Lucky's picture, and offered to take me to view him. We went to see Lucky 28 October 2005. Lucky's foster mummy has really done a good job. He was toilet trained, knows how to sit, and shake hand. I fell in love at first sight! He is (YES, still IS) so sweet! I took Lucky home on the same night. He looked worried! He didn't eat that night. I was very worried that he will not be used to the new environment, he didn't whine. Then I was told he loves milk so I gave him some COSI milk with his kibbles and I named him Gourlis (also lucky, but in Greek). He plays with my cat (1 month younger than Gourlis) very often and he will let Pallinero (the cat) drink milk from his bowl first! I love all the time spent with Gourlis. During training, his trainers were praising him all the time, he is really funny. He will perform in front of others and when we were alone and I was training him, he would not want to do!!! He makes my family laugh a lot but they are suggesting ways of cooking him (only joking). LOL... Gourlis brought so much joy into my life. It has been a long time that I am truly happy. There was once I was in tears, he came over, licked away my tears and slanted his cute little head, as if asking me, "mummy, why are you still crying? You have me now!" I really grateful to the foster mummy. All I can do is to "Pay it Forward". I started to help in fostering. - Gourlis Mum I think it's amazing how Gourlis has brought so much happiness into Gourlis' mum's life and she in turn, 'pays it forward' by fostering other animals in need. She has opened her heart and home to a 'big black' mongrel like Gourlis, whom otherwise, might not have survived. |
